Are you ready to tackle the world? Everyday!

Last week (May 17), as I was walking to the toastmasters class from front door to the classroom, I ran into the security guard I always see. Typically, you say one of the following in this situation:
Hello.. Good Morning How are you?
Instead, the guy looks at me, smiles and simply says "Are you ready to tackle the world?"
Being the person I am, I give him a big smile, and respond, "Everyday!"

Mornings and Two Ted Talks: Success and Near Win

In the past month, I have been waking up 30-45 mins earlier; not with the intention to take longer to get ready, but an intention to drink tea at home, watch/read some news, and appreciate the early morning. It's become one of the most peaceful time of my day. Drinking my milk tea, just relaxing, and preparing for a good day.

Usually, I will watch news, but this morning there was just a lot of depressing stuff of the news, so I decided to watch Ted Talks, rather complementary to each other. I really enjoyed the second talk, which provided a lot of perspective of success and reaching our goals.

Ted Talk 1: 8 Secrets of Success by Richard St. John

2) Work
3) Good
4) Focus

Wonderful Weekend: Relaxed, Happy, and Balanced

This past weekend was a great weekend. There was nothing special about this weekend, it's just that I had fun, relaxed, and felt very balanced.

Friday Night - had dinner at Lotus Indian restaurant, and then went to watch The Other Woman. This was a very funny movie.

Saturday - went hiking at Mission Peak around 6:30 a.m., then went to Toastmasters and did a speech that I won best speaker for. For lunch, had my favorite South Indian Food, and then took a nap for couple of hours. In the evening, went to go get a one hour foot massage and had milk team from Snowflake. Finally, ended the day with Dhoom 3 (Indian movie).

Sunday - relaxed all day, ran errands i.e. laundry, and took 2-3 naps throughout the day.

I love this pure happiness and relaxed feeling that's not necessarily associated with any major events or things. I feel this way often, but when I truly recognize it and own it to myself, it maximizes. Happiness lies in our own hands, and it's up to us to control it and fe…

Ted Talk: How great leaders inspire action

I watched this great Ted Talk today while drinking my morning tea. I am the person who is driven by the 'why' in all aspects, and this Ted Talk did a great job summarizing how that applies in business and leadership.

The take away statement: "People don't what you do, they buy why you do it"

The Golden Circle:
1) What? objectives and priorities
2) How? execution strategy
3) Why? principles and values

7 Habits (TI Speech Project 4 from CC)

Today, I did my third speech towards the Competent Communicator. It's based on one of my favorite books, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Competent Communicator Project #4 How to Say It Words are powerful. They convey your message and influence the audience and its perception of you. Word choice and arrangement need as much attention as speech organization and purpose. 5-7 Minutes

How many of you have read the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey?Yes – good mental refresher No – About to get cliffnotes version of this famous book, and hopefully it encourages you to go read itI read this book few years back, and I remember being so mesmerized by the simple concepts to empower personal change.
