The Guest-House

This being human is a guest-house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture.

Still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you
out for some new delight.

The dark though, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing
and invite them in.

Be grateful of whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

A Comparison of Passive, Assertive and Aggressive Behavior

Verbal: You avoid saying what you want, think or feel. if you do, you say them in such a way that you put yourself down. Apologetic words with hidden meanings are frequent. A smoke screen of vague words or silence, 'know', 'well..', 'I mean..', 'I guess', and 'I'm sorry' You allow others to choose for you.

Non Verbal: You use actions instead of words. You hope someone will guess what you want. You look as if you don't mean what you say. Your voice is weak, hesitant and soft. You whisper in monotone. Your eyes are to the side or downcast. You nod your head to almost anything anyone says. You sit or stand as far away as you can from the other person. You don't know what to do with your hands and they are trembling and clammy. You look uncomfortable, shuffle, and are tense or inhibited.

Goals: To be pleased, to be liked.

Feelings: You feel anxious, ignored, hurt, manipulated, and disappointed with yourself. You are often angry and r…

Do Not Vows

Do not live in the past. Past is done. It's over. Not going to happen again, unless you let it.
You can't change something that has already happened, so don't waster your time on it. Learn from it, move on from it.

Do not trust anyone. Be happy with yourself and learn how to trust yourself and no one else before you. Learn how to read people so you know how to deal with them in a proper manner.

Do not let other people walk all over you. You are an individual, rely on yourself. Be your own judgment and love yourself. You are the only person that can control your happiness. Don't give this power to other people, specially useless people.

Do no dwell on yourself for anything. Make a decision, do it, deal with it. No need to sit and wonder. If it outcomes well, Good job! If it does not, learn from it and be careful for next time.

Do not let people be part of your life who have hurt you, unless you can forgive completely. At the end of the day, you have to rely on yoursel…

Eat Pray and Love

Today, I finished reading Eat Pray and Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
I love this book. Its emotional, funny, dramatic (somewhat), and has a piece of everything, romance, history, growth of an individual, knowledge ( yoga, mantra, etc.). It basically covers it all, well, almost all.
This book is about a mid-age (early 30's) woman who is a writer. She takes off the typical American Dream life to visit Italy, India and Indonesia for a spiritual journey and growth.
She writes 36 tales about each location and her personal experiences- past and present.
I really like this book. I could relate to it in every way. I learned a lot from it and received enlightenment from someone else's enlightenment journey.
"Its ok, I love you, I accept you" is my favorite quote from the movie when at the end, Liz (main character) is sitting and acknowledging existence of all feelings and experiences one by one. She is accepting each one and giving them a reaffirmation that "everything is going…

I've Learned

I've learned.... classroom in the world is at a feet of an elderly person

...when you're in love, it shows

...just one person saying you've made my day, makes my day

...having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world

...being kind is more important than being right should never say no to a gift from a child

...i can always pray for someone when i don't have the strength to help them in any way matter how serious life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with

...sometimes, all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand

...simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when i was a child, did wonders for me as an adult is a roll of toilet paper, the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes

...we should be glad god doesn't give us everything we ask for doesn't buy class's those small daily happenings that make like so spect…

I will be there....

I will be there....... If one day you feel like crying...
Call me.
I don't promise that I will make you laugh,
But I can cry with you
If one day you want to run away--
Don't be afraid to call me.
I don't promise to ask you to stop...
But I can run with you
If one day you don't want to listen
to anyone...
Call me.
I promise to be there for you.
And I promise to be very quiet.
But if one day you call...
And there is no answer...
Come fast to see me.
Perhaps I need you.

Circles of Water by Marge Piercy

There is no difference between being raped
and being pushed down a flight of cement,
except that the wound also bleed inside.

There is no difference between being raped
and being run over by a truck
except that afterward, mean ask if you enjoyed it.

There is no difference between being raped
and being bit on the ankle by a rattle snake
except that people ask you if your skirt was short
and why you were out alone anyhow.

There is no difference between being raped
and going headfirst through a windshield
except that afterward, you are afraid,
not of cars,
but half the human race.

The rapist is your boyfriends brother
He sits beside you in the movies eating popcorn
Rape fattens on the fantasies of the normal male
like maggot in garbage.

Fear of rape is a cold wind blowing
all the time on a woman's hunched back.
Never to stoll alone on a sand road through pine woods,
never to climb a trail across a bald
without that aluminum in the mouth
when I see a man climb toward me.

Never to open the door to a knock

Imagine there is a time bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400.
It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every evening it deletes whatever part of balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do? Draw out every cent of course.

Every morning, it credits your account with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes it off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdrafts. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposit, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against "tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it, the utmost health, happiness and success. The clock is running. Make the most of today. To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade. To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who have birth to a pr…

True Ways to Live Life

Give people more than what they want, and do it with all your heart.Memorize your favorite poem.Do not believe every you hear, Do not spend all you have. When you say "I love you", mean it. When you say "I'm sorry", look at the person straight in the eyes.Never ignore anybody's dreams.Love deeply, passionately, you may get hurt, but this is the only way to live life completely.Tackle any disagreements in a clear manner. Do not offend.Speak slowly, think fast.Do not judge a person based on their relatives. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and say, why do you want to know.Embrace change but do not repute your own value.Silence is the best answer.Spend some time alone. The deepest love and the greatest achievement is one daring the most risk.If you happen to loose, do not miss the lesson.3 R's: Respect yourself, Respect everyone else and be Responsible for all your actions.Do not allow little disputes to put an end to a gr…

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail in the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence.
Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered that it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally, the day came when the boy didn't loose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "you've done well, my son, but look at all the holes in the fences. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar, ju…

A Lesson in Life

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happen by chance or by means of good luck or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, sheer stupidity, all occur to test limits of our soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illness or relationship, life would be a smoothly paved, straight flat road to nowhere.
If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart- forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but they are teaching you to love, open your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt.
Make everyday count. Appreciate every moment, take from everything that you possibly can, for you'll never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before and actually listen. Hold your head up because you have every right to you. Tell yourself you are a grea…
